East Village Association, Inc. (EVA) is the nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that manages the East Village Business Improvement District (BID). San Diego’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are City-designated geographic-based areas where business owners are assessed annually to fund activities and improvements through the BID to promote their individual business districts. The intent of a BID is to strengthen the small business community, create new jobs, attract new businesses, and revitalize older commercial neighborhoods.
If you own a business in East Village, WELCOME, you are already a member of EVA. If you are an interested party that wants to support and promote the East Village neighborhood, you too, can become an associate EVA member.

This committee meets once a month, on the second Wednesday of the month, and is designed to collaborate with government and community groups to reduce homelessness, work with the Downtown San Diego Partnership “Clean and Safe” program to improve downtown’s appearance and enhance public safety, and to support and promote sustainable green practices, as some working examples.
This committee meets on an as-needed basis, and is designed to review the draft budget, to review audit/tax forms, and other monetary review activities as needed. This committee helps to support financial stability, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and makes recommendations to the EVA Board to ensure that EVA operates efficiently and responsibly.
This committee meets once on a month, on the first Thursday of the month, and is designed to plan, review, and provide guidance on EVA’s overall comprehensive marketing and active communication strategy for the purposes not limited to stakeholder recruitment, program messaging, fundraising for special programs, awareness and branding; and to review special event requests from community organizations in order to make support/opposition recommendations to the EVA Board.
This committee meets once a month, on the second Thursday of the month, and is designed to plan, implement, and encourage smart growth transportation initiatives to include smart parking configuration, walkability, bicycle programs, neighborhood accessibility, and future transportation initiatives that compliment the City of San Diego’s Sustainable Community Strategy and the Downtown Mobility Plan.
This committee meets on an as-needed basis, and is designed to promote neighborhood beautification projects through physical upgrades intended to enhance and activate the East Village neighborhood.
This committee meets on an as-needed basis, in conjunction with the East Village Residents Group (EVRG), and is designed to provide pre-design reviews for future developments in East Village, and to create project support/opposition positions for Civic San Diego consideration.
EVA advocates in front of civic leadership for an improved East Village through:
EVA will be launching a series of neighborhood placemaking designs, with the inaugural ground-breaking installation planned for late 2018.
EVA manages the East Village neighborhood Banner Program, which allows for the placement of banners promoting cultural activity of general interest, and/or relating to the community and community events of general interest upon adherence to the program guidelines and subject to board approval. EVA offers more than 300 small and large banners for sponsorship.

EVA is currently in ongoing discussions to introduce additional community enhancement programs to include: an urban night market, street lighting, and additional beautification efforts as some working examples.
