Crushing It

Carly Ealey & Christopher Konecki (2017)

From a simple sketch overlay to the work of art you see today, Carly Ealey and Christopher Konecki have created something truly unique in East Village. Carly connects most with portraiture and female figures so the body position of the woman figure came to her first. Carly passed it along to Chris to add his magic to it, incorporating the city buildings and old signage (Chris' specialty) possibly weighted on her back with a focal point at the front. The duo talked about the emotion behind the piece being heavy but with an optimistic twist. Chris had the idea of doing a junkyard - as he sketched in his piles of smashed cars and his vintage neon signage, everything clicked, and 'Crushing It' was born.
